Labor Day sales 2025: Your definitive guide to the best deals

As hard as it may be to believe, Labor Day is almost here. While the holiday — which lands on Monday, September 1 this year — may mark the unofficial end of summer, it’s also home to some of the best deals of the season.

As a deals editor, this is one of my favorite sales to research because the deals are just that good. So, what should you be shopping for on Labor Day, and what are the best Labor Day sales this year? Here’s everything you need to know.

What to shop for Labor Day weekend

• Mattresses: There are three times of the year we recommend scoping out mattress deals: Presidents’ Day, Memorial Day, and Labor Day. If you missed out on the deals during the first two events, now’s the time to consider upgrading your sleep setup if you want to save big while doing so.
• Appliances: Big appliance brands typically release their new models in September, so this means Labor Day is the perfect time to score last year’s washers, dryers, refrigerators and more at a stellar discount. And this doesn’t just apply to major appliances, so be sure to check out your go-to small appliance brands, too.
• Summer essentials: It may seem a bit counterintuitive, but Labor Day is one of the best times (if not the best time) to pick up everything from patio furniture and grills to air conditioners and more. Why? Well, as stores work to clear out their summer inventory for fall and winter essentials, these products end up majorly discounted, allowing you to save big, even if it’s for next year.
• Furniture, especially outdoor furniture: Like appliance retailers, furniture retailers are getting ready to bring in the next season’s collection — this equals big savings on everything from sofas and beds to dining sets and more. This also makes now the perfect time to pick up patio furniture at a steep discount.
• Clothing, shoes and accessories: If you’re looking to update your wardrobe, now’s the time to do it. Tons of retailers are offering end-of-season blowouts, with deals on everything from last-minute summer essentials to new picks for fall. And with back-to-school deals tied into that, you’re sure to save big on your next staple piece come Labor Day.
• Apple products: Any Apple devotee knows that Apple sales are few and far between. One time of the year you can look forward to savings, however, is Labor Day. Why? Back to school season! While you won’t find too many deals directly at Apple (outside of their Education Store), retailers like Amazon, Walmart, Best Buy and QVC will always have steep discounts come Labor Day.
