The new console comes with all the bells and whistles of the Nintendo Switch 1, but they’re enhanced for an improved gaming experience.
It starts with the larger 7.9-inch LCD 1080p touchscreen and bigger Joy-Con for improved comfort and visuals. The now magnetic Joy-Con 2 doubles as a mouse to play a larger variety of games — but still make the satisfying “click” sound that gamers love.
It also comes with a new C button to connect with friends online via GameShare to share your screen as you play together and GameChat with the new Nintendo Switch 2 Camera for $55 to see each other as you play.
Tabletop Mode is also enhanced with a dock that can output games with 4K resolution and HDR.
Plus, the internal storage is upgraded to 256 GB, so you can play and store more of your favorite games. But if that’s not enough — because let’s be real, it’s not — you can use the new SanDisk MicroSD Express Cards ($60) for additional external storage.
Speaking of games, the console is backward compatible with a catch. If you want to play any of your Nintendo Switch 1 games on the Switch 2, you’ll have to purchase an Upgrade Pack starting at $10 for certain games, if it’s available.
However, a few games, like “Yakuza 0 Director’s Cut″ and “The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild,” have already been remastered for the new console, and there are more remasters on the way.
More Nintendo Switch 2 games are coming over the course of this year and next year for gamers to get excited for, like “Kirby Air Riders” launching on Nov. 20 and “Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition” launching soon.
But it’s best to order your Switch 2 now before the gaming system or bundle sell out again.
