A pop of color in spring hardly feels like a new idea, but the sheer amount of bright shades peppered all across the runways was hard to ignore. “It is all about colorful and fun dressing right now, with brands tapping into bold, new colorways that are creating a lot of delight for my clientele,” Waller shares, noting she predicts “we will see that strongly [represented] throughout the year.”

Tapping back to that sense of practicality, the spring/summer 2026 runways offered a fresh interpretation of the clutch—larger, intended for daytime, and crafted from materials like leather and suede. “The everyday clutch is one of my personal favorites this season,” Marissa Galante Frank says, beauty and accessories fashion director at Bloomingdale’s. “Clutches are no longer reserved for evenings. They’re larger, softer, and styled for daytime, worn effortlessly under the arm and paired with everything from tailoring to easy dresses.”

Cloud Dancer

Jacquemus, Gabriela Hearst, Toteme

The Pantone color that’s caused a stir: Cloud Dancer is a palate-cleansing hue that feels aligned with the start of spring. Murmurings of quiet luxury’s retirement have been getting louder, and according to Vêtir shopping app founder (and former Bazaar editor) Kate Davidson Hudson, some of the newer marquee pieces of the season embrace more novelty and less strictness. “We’re seeing this mood manifest in design elements like chic new textural chain accents updating classic bag silhouettes,” she says.

When Matthieu Blazy sent his models down the NYC subway platform clinging to half-open handbags, it was clear that it wasn’t by accident. “Perhaps one of the most prevalent bag trends that underscores a less austere take on the proper designer handbag of last year is the new undone bag silhouette,” Davidson explains. “Also colloquially referred to as the ‘pickpocket’s dream,’ these tilt-shaped, open-topped bag styles project a woman on the run, with perhaps bigger ideas on her mind than buttoning up her day bag.” The trend was also seen at Loewe, Dior, and Fendi. “These louche, deconstructed designs are decidedly modern and unfussy, with a certain individualist expressiveness that feels very right for this season and this moment in time.”

For those who appreciate a clever shape, you’ll be pleased to know the barrel-bag trend is continuing this season. “The silhouette is super versatile and can be effortlessly paired with your favorite spring denim or to add contrast to flowy maxi dresses,” Maguire explains.

Baby blue makes a star appearance in several key runway collections this spring, from Carven to Sandy Liang. The color is also making waves on the red carpet, with Hamnet actress Jessie Buckley embracing the cool hue in head-to-toe Dior where she picked up the award for Best Actress in a Drama at the Golden Globes.
