Best Suits For Men 2025

Whether you’re headed into the office or attending a wedding, a stylish suit can be the ultimate confidence booster. I spoke with a menswear expert and spent hours comparing brands to determine the best suits for men that are worth the investment. The Bonobos Jetsetter Wool Suit won as the top pick overall: Its wool fabric is blended with spandex for a hint of stretch, and it comes in three fits—standard, slim and athletic. For value, I recommend the Spier & Mackay Charcoal Suit, an under-$400 pick that punches well above its weight.

When making my selections, there were a few standout specifications that I looked for: These include high-quality materials, inclusive size ranges and color options, and impeccable fits. I eventually landed on the best suits for men and then reached out to Ben Twaits, men’s style director at Wardrobe Therapy, for helpful shopping tips. Blazer sizes: 36S to 48L | Trouser sizes: 28 to 40W, 30 to 37L | Colors: 7 total, including Charcoal and Light Navy | Materials: 97% wool, 3% spandex

Bonobos is a menswear brand that Twaits recommends to his clients; its well-made, mid-priced pieces are designed with style and comfort in mind. The Jetsetter Wool Suit earns the top spot on this list thanks to its crisp, tailored look and multiple fit options—standard, slim and athletic. Classic wool fabric is elevated with a touch of spandex, allowing it to move with your body more easily. Unlike a nested suit, the blazer and pants are sized separately, so you can achieve an accurate fit. Another plus: The suit comes in seven shades, ranging from formal Black and Navy to more relaxed Light Grey and Tan.

Blazer sizes: 34 to 52; 36S to 44S; 38L to 48L | Trouser sizes: 28 to 40 | Colors: 14 total, including Chocolate and Navy | Materials: 100% merino wool

Spier & Mackay’s core suit collection is easy on the wallet but doesn’t skimp on quality, a rare find in a sea of budget-friendly options. Made of 100% Australian merino wool, the blazer features lightly padded shoulders, half canvas construction and a curved breast pocket. The trousers have a standard 6-inch drop, meaning they’re sized 6 inches below the jacket. (For example, a size 38 suit will come with size 32 trousers.) Choose from two fits—slim and contemporary—and over a dozen hues, including lesser-seen shades like Olive Green and Burgundy.

Blazer sizes: 36 to 48; 38S to 46S | Trouser sizes: 28 to 42 | Colors: Navy | Materials: Nylon, cotton, spandex performance blend

This suit from State & Liberty features a tapered fit that’s ideal for athletic body types, with extra room in the shoulders and chest. It’s constructed out of a stretchy blend of nylon, cotton and spandex that allows for greater flexibility—it also resists wrinkling, making it a great low-maintenance option. The blazer and trousers are sized separately, with the option to add a matching vest to the ensemble. Besides Navy, the suit is available in shades like Heathered Black and Blue Plaid; just keep in mind that each shade and pattern has a different price tag.

Blazer sizes: 36S to 44S; 36R to 50R; 38L to 48L | Trouser sizes: 30 to 44 | Colors: Navy | Materials: 100% Super 100s wool

British menswear brand Charles Tyrwhitt puts an emphasis on creating the perfect fit, which is apparent by its multiple jacket lengths and inseam options. This twill suit is available in a slim fit in addition to a regular fit, plus short, regular and long blazer options. You can also pick between four trouser inseam lengths, or you can opt for a custom inseam for an additional fee—if you know your precise measurements, this may save you a trip to the tailor. With clean lines and a sharp silhouette, this suit is a versatile pick that can transition from the office to after-work drinks. An optional vest can be added for $120.

Blazer sizes: 32 to 50; 36S to 50S; 36L to 50L | Trouser sizes: 26 to 40; 36L to 40L | Colors: Mid Grey | Materials: 100% wool

A wedding suit should look sophisticated and elegant in addition to being comfortable enough to wear in any season—especially if the ceremony or reception is held outdoors. This well-priced, tailored style from Suit Supply is made of all-season wool, with natural shoulders and a notched lapel. The suit is nested with a standard 6-inch drop, which means the trouser size is 6 inches less than the jacket size. Suit Supply stands out for its wealth of customization features, so you can create a truly bespoke suit for any special occasion.

Blazer sizes: 36 to 46; 36S to 42S; 40L to 46L | Trouser sizes: 28 to 38 | Colors: Stone | Materials: 98% cotton, 2% elastane

For more relaxed settings—a beach wedding or a rooftop happy hour, for instance—a light-colored cotton suit is a breezy, fashion-forward choice. This specific style is from timeless menswear brand Todd Snyder and is made of breathable cotton blended with a touch of stretchy elastane. The lightweight blazer and trousers are sized separately, making it easy to get the right fit. Even better, both pieces can be worn separately with the rest of your wardrobe, enhancing their versatility factor.

Blazer sizes: 38 to 54; 38S to 44S; 40L to 54L | Trouser sizes: Not listed | Colors: Blue | Materials: 100% wool

Peter Millar is another brand that Twaits recommends—its sportswear-leaning offerings are well made and sophisticated. With sizes ranging up to 54L, the Flynn Classic Fit Suit is my top recommendation for big and tall shoppers. It has a classic fit that’s cut with a little extra room in the chest, and it’s made of 100% wool fabric that can be worn year-round. While this suit is particularly noteworthy for its big and tall sizing, short sizes are available as well.

Blazer sizes: 36 to 50; 36S to 41S; 41L to 49L | Trouser sizes: Not listed | Colors: 2 total, including Dark Grey and Black | Materials: 100% wool

When it comes to designer suit brands, Zegna is one of Twaits’ top recommendations. The brand is synonymous with luxury and impeccable quality, which is reflected in every detail of its menswear. The Trofeo Milano Two-Piece Wool Suit is made of a lightweight Italian wool that can be worn in all seasons. It’s the kind of suit that’s meant to be fine-tuned to your body: The jacket has basted sleeves and the trousers have an unfinished hem, so a tailor can adjust them to the perfect length. While this suit is a much larger financial investment than the other picks on this list, it’s a worthy splurge for those who frequently wear suits. Besides Dark Grey, this pick is also available in Black.

How I Chose The Best Suits For Men

To determine the best suits for men, I first researched menswear brands that are popular with Forbes Vetted readers and other shoppers online; only brands with stellar reputations were considered.

  • I consulted with Twaits to learn which suit brands he recommends to his clients, and kept these in mind as I narrowed down my picks.
  • Budget is an important factor when it comes to choosing a suit; for this reason, I focused on suits that come at a variety of prices, starting at just over $300 and going all the way past the $4,000 mark.
  • Since everyone’s body is different, I prioritized multiple fit options on this list, including styles that come in slim, athletic and big-and-tall selections.

What To Consider In The Best Suits For Men

When shopping for a suit, there are a few key factors you should keep in mind. Here’s what to evaluate before making a purchase:

Size

According to Twaits, most suit sizes are based off chest size, so you should start by getting your chest measurement. Your height also plays a part. “Typically, if you are at or under 5 feet 7 inches, then you would need a short length,” he says. “If you are 5 feet 8 inches to 6 feet tall, then you would need a regular length, and anything above 6 feet typically requires a long length.” While this should give you a general guideline, there are some exceptions because everyone’s body is different.

Suits are either nested—meaning, the blazer and pants are bundled together in a pre-selected size—or sold as separates. For a more accurate fit, Twaits generally recommends suits sold as separates, like the Bonobos Jetsetter Suit and the Todd Snyder Casual Suit.

Fit

While a standard fit is most common across the board, many suits today are available in slim, athletic and relaxed fits. “If the client is more round in the middle, then I’d recommend a classic fit with wider lapel on the jacket to give the appearance of a broad shoulder, in turn balancing out his silhouette.” If you have more of a rectangular or inverted-triangle shape, Twaits recommends a slimmer suit—he also suggests having a tailor take in the jacket to highlight the waist.

Ultimately, to get the correct fit, Twaits stresses the importance of taking your suit to a tailor. “No matter if you’re getting a nested suit or separates, a tailor will help fine tune the fit to make it look like custom,” he says.

Material

Wool is generally the most popular choice for suits: It’s comfortable against the skin, doesn’t crease easily and looks sharp in both formal and semi-formal environments. “I am also seeing a lot of wool-blend suits, where brands are incorporating stretch and other synthetic materials to make the suits more comfortable and also wearable all year,” says Twaits. Nylon blend suits are ideal for those who prefer the feel of a performance fabric, while cotton and linen suits lend themselves well to warm weather and more relaxed settings.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What Is The Best Men’s Suit Brand?

After comparing several options, I landed on Bonobos as the best suit brand for most men. It features mid-priced options that are versatile for any occasion—like the Jetsetter Suit featured at the top of this list—and it’s one of Twaits’ go-to brands when he’s working with his clients.

How Much Should A Decent Men’s Suit Cost?

A high-quality suit is an investment that will serve you for years, as long as it’s cared for properly. Spending a bit more up front ensures that you’re getting a well-made garment, but it’s also not necessary to spend thousands of dollars on a suit. The more budget-friendly styles on this list fall in the $300 to $500 range, while the majority of other picks cost anywhere from $500 to $1,000.

What Is The Most Attractive Suit Color?

Color is ultimately a matter of personal preference, but keep in mind that dark neutrals like navy and charcoal are popular for a reason: They’re sophisticated, classic and well-suited for everything from office meetings to weddings. Black is typically reserved for very formal events, while lighter shades like beige and gray are ideal for more relaxed settings.
