Dolly Parton Debuts Cosmetics Line ‘Dolly Beauty’

Dolly Parton is highly respected in the music industry for her unforgettable songwriting and musical skills. She’s also known for her great beauty. Mashing the two together for her first cosmetics line, called Dolly Beauty, is the perfect fit.

Parton explains on the line’s website that she always wants to look her best. It’s a daily essential for her to feel glamorous both inside and outside.

She wrote, “I feel glamorous on the inside, so I want to look like it on the outside!” Parton has always wanted to create a makeup line that mirrored her internal vision.

As one of 12 children, luxuries such as cosmetics were out of the family budget when Parton was a young woman. However, that didn’t stop her from enhancing her natural beauty with what she had on hand. She used items such as pokeberries for lip stain, burnt matches for eyeliner, and flour for face powder.

Using makeup was frowned upon where she grew up in the backwoods of East Tennessee, but that didn’t stop Parton from using her creativity (and homemade makeup) to boost her self-confidence as she grew into womanhood, moved to Nashville, and made a name for herself as a songwriter and singer. She claimed, “I worked hard to look the way I pictured myself.”

Dolly Beauty contains products such as Heaven’s Kiss Lipstick in colors such as Jolene Red, Rosebud, Birthday Suit, and Honey Plum. Each lipstick comes in a rhinestone-studded case and is scented with lychee blossom, rose petals, and vanilla orchids. As for fragrance selection, Parton’s fans can choose from a handful of scents, including Scent From Above, Smokey Mountain, Dancing Fireflies, Early Morning Breeze, and Tennessee Sunset.

Parton’s best advice for looking and feeling your best comes from her website: “People say how do you stay looking so young?
