Dolly Parton is Launching a Beauty Line: What to Know

What is Dolly Parton’s new makeup line?

The line, called Dolly Beauty, will launch with a lipstick collection called Dolly Beauty’s Heaven’s Kiss. It will be available in four shades on its website for $20 each, and each will be “encompassed in sparkling rhinestones,” per WWD.

Dolly Beauty will also be releasing products for other makeup categories, like eye and complexion, at a later time.

Parton says the lipstick colors will be diverse and they’ll also be named after a few of her hit songs, including one called Jolene Red.

“I like to name my products after songs,” she told WWD.

“It’s important to create things that people that do wear makeup can enjoy,” she added. “You have to have a variety of colors.”

Parton has previously ventured into the beauty world with a 2021 fragrance line she released called Scent From Above. Now, Parton is diving even deeper into the world of cosmetics with the launch of Dolly Beauty.

As a lover of cosmetics, Parton told WWD that she knew exactly what she wanted her line to be.

“Every time I put on makeup, I’ll find certain things I want to put in the line. A great, thicker gloss, or a pearly gloss, or something that I’ve used and will find in an old drawer I remember loving,” she said. “Lord knows, nobody wears more makeup than me, so I know all the little things I want.”

Parton noted that she’s also heavily involved with her line. If anything wasn’t up to par, she wouldn’t be afraid to speak up.

“I have to be involved in everything, and I sample and try things and say, ‘Oh, that’s not great, let’s go back and do this or that,’” she explained. “Whether it being the packaging, where it says my name, I want them to think of me when they use it.”

What inspired Dolly Parton’s new makeup line?

As a beauty icon, Parton told WWD that it was only natural that she would expand her footprint into the makeup business.

“I’ve always said I never leave a rhinestone unturned,” she said. “I’ve wanted to be pretty my whole life like most girls, especially country girls that have a dream of glamour. I started creating my own little makeup things at home when I was just a kid, and I’ve been known for wearing makeup — usually too much — for years.”

That knowledge of makeup and beauty led Parton to want to have something of her own. She thought about dabbling in the wig business, but the country icon quickly realized that a makeup collection felt like the right move.

“I’ve always wanted my own wig line,” Parton said. “But I always loved makeup, and when we did the fragrance, makeup seemed like the next step. Through the years, we’ll be doing different products with makeup, and eventually, we may do hair care or this or that. Anything that has to do with beauty — new dreams come every day.”
