Louis Vuitton Is Launching Makeup With Pat McGrath
The biggest makeup launch of the year is upon us. La Beauté Louis Vuitton is coming this fall, with makeup legend Dame Pat McGrath serving as creative director of cosmetics at the house. While Louis Vuitton has an extensive array of fragrances and accessories like mirror compacts and cosmetics cases that date back over a century, this marks the first makeup collection for the storied brand. And it’s nothing if not thorough: WWD reports that we can expect 55 lipsticks, 10 lip balms, and eight eyeshadow palettes at launch.
“The codes of the house at Louis Vuitton are so ingrained that actually to ideate a new product category feels like creating an extension of what is already there,” McGrath says. “People have been asking me for years, ‘When is Louis Vuitton Beauty coming?’ and now we can say it is finally here!”
McGrath has been the mastermind behind the bold makeup looks seen on Louis Vuitton runways for many seasons. “We have a shared vision of beauty and collaborate in a way that feels entirely natural, but every season, there is a surprise and a twist,” McGrath tells Vogue. “La Beauté Louis Vuitton is a perfect extension of the journey we’ve been on together.”

Both WWD and Vogue report that the packaging has yet to be revealed, but one can expect to see the codes of the house—leather, pops of color, decadent textures—represented throughout the lipsticks and shadow palettes. The formulas took four years of research and development, with an emphasis on performance and long-wear while maintaining the highest level of luxury.
