Winners for Douglas County 4-H Fashion Revue – Alexandria Echo Press
ALEXANDRIA
— The annual Douglas County 4-H Clothing and Textiles Day and Fashion Revue was recently held at Lake Community Church on Tuesday, July 30.
The theme for the public style show was “Celebrate Your Success in 4-H,” and it included outfits modeled by several 4-H members. The two individuals emceeing the event were Callie Taveirne, 4-H summer intern, and Aleyna Taveirne, Douglas County 4-H youth leader.
There were two components to the Fashion Revue. The first was “Clothes You Make” and the second was “Clothes You Buy.”
According to the press release, the Fashion Revue program gave 4-H members the opportunity to:
- Develop skills in planning, selecting and making clothing
- Select suitable accessories and confidently model a garment that was made or purchased
- Build self-confidence and poise
- Develop good posture and a sense of style
- Practice leadership skills and roles
- Take part in community affairs and demonstrate citizenship and responsibility
- Explore career opportunities in the fashion and textiles industry
The Fashion Revue Court of Honor winners were presented with medallions at the event.
Selected for the Fashion Revue Court of Honor in the Clothes You Buy category were Moriah Loween, Jayne Nelson, Lydia Mason, Reagan Lennes, Lucy Nelson and Brynley Lennes. The overall champion was Reagan Lennes.
In the Clothes You Buy Conference Judging for grades 3 through 5, the champion was Lucy Nelson, the reserve champion was Madaline Sanborn and the honorable mention was Kate Nelson. In the same category for grades 6 and up, the champion was Reagan Lennes and the reserve champion was Moriah Loween. The overall champion was Reagan Lennes.
Selected for the Fashion Revue Court of Honor in the Clothes You Make category were Skylar Johnson, Jayne Nelson, Rita Thesing, Moriah Loween, Kate Nelson and Elim Jo Loween. The overall champion was Skylar Johnson.
In the Clothes You Make Conference Judging for grades 3 through 5, the champion was Lucy Nelson, the reserve champion was Kate Nelson and the honorable mention was Elim Jo Loween. In the same category for grades 6 and up, the champion was Skylar Johnson and the reserve champion was Lydia Mason. The overall champion was Skylar Johnson.
Quilts were also judged during the event and the winners were, in grades 3 through 5, Champion Elim Jo Loween and Reserve Champion Kylie Williams.
For grades 6 and up, the quilt winners were Champion Moriah Loween and Reserve Champion Lilibelle Hokanson. The overall quilt champion was Moriah Loween.
During the Fashion Revue program, youth involved in the performing arts project area entertained the audience with musical performances. The winners for this were, in grades 3 through 5, Evie Meissner as champion and Kate Nelson as reserve champion.
For grades 6 and up, the performing arts winners were Thomas Dutcher as champion and Lydia Mason as reserve champion. Other performers included Evelyn Eigen, Ruby Meissner and Jayne Nelson.
Champion plaques for the event were sponsored by Elden’s Fresh Foods, Cub Foods, Joe and Mary Keller, Christina Lakers 4-H Club and the Hokanson Family. Award sponsors included Andria Theatre, Bon Jos, Casey’s Amusement Park, Community Vacuum and Sewing, KXRA Radio Station, Magpie, Maurices, Special Memories, Target and Walmart. The winner medallions were sponsored by Ag Country/Farm Credit Services.
